Abstract:
Aim: To identify the protective effect of emodin on systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS) in the animal model of acute aortic dissection and its possible mechanism. Methods:Twelve dogs with aortic dissection were allocated into control group(n=6) and intervention group(n=6) according to whether or not the emodin was used. The concentrations of endotoxin and cytokines(TNFα and IL6) in different groups were compared before,and at 0,2,4,6 h the establishment of aortic dissection model. Results: The serum endotoxin ,TNFα,and IL6 were decreased significantly in the intervention group than those in the control group(endotoxin:Fgroup=4 721.572, Ftime=449.164, Finteraction=3 135.754,P<0.001;TNFα:Fgroup=2 257.284, Ftime=3 563.186, Finteraction=1 183.482,P<0.001;IL6:Fgroup=1 504.231,Ftime=378.196, Finteraction=125.869,P<0.001).Conclusion: Emodin produced favorable protective effect on acute aortic dissection complicating SIRS. Decreased releasing of endotoxin and cytokines might be the possible mechanism.
